East Central ISD reports perfect score, A rating on Financial Integrity report

In a public hearing at its Dec. 16 meeting, East Central ISD staff presented the district's Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report and said the district received an A (Superior Achievement) and a perfect score of 100. The staff presenter described the rating as the product of long‑standing policies, procedures and internal controls and thanked district accounting and audit staff for their work.

The presenter explained FIRST evaluates roughly 20 categories, including administrative‑cost expenditures, the accuracy of financial records, evidence of internal controls and third‑party audit findings. Staff said an A (and a 100 score) is difficult to achieve and that it requires broad stewardship across departments.

The hearing generated no public comments and no formal action was taken; staff said the report is included in the electronic board packet for review.

Board members thanked staff for their stewardship and noted the rating supports the district’s financial reputation; staff noted the district has received A ratings in prior years as well.
