"Clarity is especially important when the district evaluates experience across multiple categories," she said, noting that staff need timely, consistent explanations about eligibility and next steps when they submit records.
Thomas Alhone asked the board to consider proactive communication early in processes so issues can be corrected without hardship, and recommended consistent review practices so employees are not surprised by later reinterpretation of their service time.
The commenter said her remarks were intended as general observations to benefit employees and the district and asked that the comments be entered into the public record. The board did not take immediate action on the item at the meeting; staff may follow up through existing personnel or grievance channels.
