Atherton council welcomes new public works associate engineer Gabriela Ruiz

Public Works Director Robert Wadia introduced Ruiz, saying she joined the department in September and is a licensed civil engineer with a bachelor's degree from UC Irvine. Wadia summarized Ruiz's prior work in transportation design, encroachment plan reviews, grading and drainage plan review, and NPDES winterization inspections.
"We're really happy to have her with us," Wadia said, adding that Ruiz brings experience the town can use for traffic and town center analysis. Ruiz spoke briefly: "I'm just happy to be here. Nice to meet you all, and I'm excited to help this wonderful account," she said.
Councilmembers welcomed Ruiz and asked whether she would serve as a liaison to the town's transportation work; Wadia said she would do so "at some point." No personnel actions or salary details were discussed on the record.
Why it matters: Ruiz fills a technical role in the town's public works department and will support permitting, plan review and transportation analysis as Atherton proceeds with town-center and street projects.
