The Historic Preservation Commission reviewed a second draft Dec. 10 of "The Lush Oasis in the Desert," a comprehensive history of Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, and instructed staff and consultants to incorporate editorial suggestions ahead of a final report scheduled for March 25, 2026.
Staff said the second draft incorporated many of the commission's prior recommendations and invited additional corrections on dates, terminology (use of the word "tule"), and image quality. Commissioner Stottle proposed a brief etymology for "tule" and asked that poor-quality newspaper clipping images be replaced where possible. The consultant said the team is available for further edits and will submit a final version in March.
Commissioners thanked the consultant and staff for the substantive research and noted the report will be a key reference for future planning at Tule Springs.
