The commission voted to receive and file the report.
The deputy described the distinction between "hazardous" violations (moving violations such as speeding and failure to stop) and "non-hazardous" citations (typically registration issues), and clarified an earlier confusion about reported DUI numbers. "A hazardous site is like a moving violation... Non hazardous would be registration," the deputy said (S3).
Commissioners asked about enforcement resources. The deputy said the department's fleet is currently limited and that decoy cars had been used in the past but are scarce now. Sergeant Kwan was identified by the deputy as a new sergeant familiarizing himself with local operations. The deputy also described temporary mobile radar signs the department uses, noting they are rotated and can be expensive to operate or maintain.
After discussion commissioners moved to receive and file the report; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. No formal enforcement changes were authorized at the meeting.
The deputy also listed locations where mobile signs have been placed recently, including Crest Road, PV Drive East near the switchbacks past Merrimount, and Marilless Road. The department will consider requests for temporary deployments but indicated logistical coordination and interjurisdictional borrowing of devices may be necessary.
