City announces candidate filing deadline, holiday office closures and next meeting date

Staff announced candidate filing opened and closes Dec. 30 at 5 p.m., city offices will close for a one-hour employee meeting Dec. 19 and be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and the next council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 13.
City staff told the council that candidate filing opened on the day of the meeting and will close Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. The clerk noted filings may only be submitted while offices are open (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), so holiday closures will affect when residents can file for office.
Staff also announced a one-hour end-of-year employee meeting on Dec. 19 (city hall and public works closed from noon to 1 p.m.) and that city offices will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Offices will reopen the day after Christmas for one business day before the New Year.
The mayor and council were invited to the employee lunch following the meeting. The council’s next meeting was announced as Jan. 13; the packet for that meeting will include information held for the canceled second meeting in December.
