Clerk reports four cases before hearing officers; beer fine revenues exceed budget

At the Dec. 9 meeting of the Knoxville Beer Board, Mr. Johnson delivered the Clerk's Report: "There are four cases before the hearing officers," he said, and noted two matters (Brother Wolf and Weigel's) have been resolved with orders entered and fines paid.
Mr. Johnson said Bakershead Tavern and Day Arm Markets had been referred to hearings on noncompliance and that those hearings are scheduled for early January; notice letters will be sent to those permittees. He also reported that beer-fund fine revenue for the year has met and exceeded the budget in December, though he added the board's goal would be to have no fines collected for a year.
The board did not take further formal action on those cases at this meeting; the referred matters will proceed to scheduled hearings. Staff reiterated they will send the hearing notices and can assist permittees with compliance steps and documentation as needed.
