Valley Stream board presents citation to local confectionery, honors chamber for centennial role

Board leadership invited Darlene Edwards to the podium and noted that The Best Goodie Bag Confectionery "has been chosen as Nassau County Chamber Business of the Year for 2025." Edwards, identified in the record as the business owner, told the board she was surprised and grateful: "This is something like, I was so surprised... It's something that we love," she said, adding that the recognition encourages her to continue the family business.
The board also invited the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce board members forward — including Sesan Sharassan (chamber president), Dominic Minerva, Kevin Averdo, Laurie LaCurcio, Sandra Stanhav, Nicole Iliopolis, Lucy Vigiano, Lenore Anderson, Jusu Kim and Barbara de Grace — and acknowledged the chamber's contributions to the village's centennial events such as vendor markets, a parade and a block party. An unidentified chamber representative offered thanks to the board and fellow members.
Centennial committee members and local officials were also named and invited onstage: Cathy Bogle, Don Pupke, Rich Sullivan, Carol McKenna, Paulie Yang, Village Justice Bob Bogle and former Mayor John DeGrace were recognized for their roles in the year's events. After the recognitions the trustees moved to regular business.
