Summary
City officials recognized winners of the 2025 Greenacres photo contest, which drew 83 submissions—double last year—and thanked longtime sponsor Blanca Macri Lopez and city staff who judged and organized the competition.
Austin Lee, director of communications and governmental affairs, announced the winners of Greenacres’ 2025 photo contest on Dec. 1 and said the contest received 83 submissions, double last year’s total. The contest, which showcases nature, special events and parks, selected a top photo in each category and recognized staff and community entrants.
Lee thanked the contest’s selection committee, which includes one member from each city department, and recognized Loris Paez, the city’s multimedia communications specialist, for her role judging submissions. He also thanked Blanca Macri Lopez, owner of the State Farm office on Lake Worth Road, who has sponsored the contest’s gift-card prizes for five consecutive years. "It's just a pleasure to do business in the city of Greenacres," Lopez said, noting the city's "small-town" feel within Palm Beach County.
Winners named during the presentation included Andrew West (nature and wildlife; a photo of the City Hall Butterfly Garden) and Jenny Apple Santoro (parks and landmarks, Samuel J. Ferreri Community Park). The ceremony also noted repeat winners in the special-events category and recognized therapy dog Negan and handler Charlene for community visits to fire rescue and hospitals. Lee encouraged residents to enter next year’s contest, which runs from January through September and will be highlighted during the city's centennial events.
The presentation was given during the council’s regular meeting; council members applauded the winners and sponsors.
