Parks & Rec Director Armando Solis reported event statistics from recent festivals: 95 parade entries, 75 vendors at the market, 300 people at a concert on Littleton Street, and up to 5,000 people for the parade, with an estimated 9,000 visits on 4th Street across the day. Solis thanked staff, volunteers, sponsors and named multiple staffers who supported the events. He also noted some business owners and citizens were upset about street closures and said a full cost report will be provided after the debrief.
Community Development Director Jenny Carloni told the council the Planning Commission approved a 37-unit multifamily development at the Spawns Drive cul‑de‑sac — the first multifamily entitlement in Galt in several years — and staff looks forward to development moving forward.
Police Chief Bridal Kalinowski announced the Jan. 15 ceremony marking the 13th anniversary of the death of Kevin Tahn and said a road segment for the planned Kevin Tahn Parkway has been signed and will be part of a dedication with the family. He asked the council to hold noon on Jan. 15 for the event.
