Crest Hill staff to advance comprehensive-plan update; contract recommended to council

City planning staff told the Crest Hill Plan Commission on Dec. 11 that a contract to update the city’s comprehensive plan will be recommended to the City Council and is expected to kick off early next year.
Daniel Ritter said the update is with a consultant referenced in staff remarks as "Housal Levine," the firm that prepared the 2014 plan. He said the work will be an "express version" of the comprehensive plan: an audit of accomplishments since 2014, a reassessment of goals and public outreach including surveys and open houses. "This is the city of Crest Hill's plan," Ritter said, stressing staff and commission involvement and public engagement.
Ritter projected a Feb–Mar kickoff and said staff expects to complete the update "before the end of the year" after public outreach. He suggested the planning commission will take an active role and that joint commission–council meetings are possible for parts of the process. The contract will be forwarded to the council for final action at its upcoming meetings.
