Daviess County highway department wins $1 million CCMG award for three corridor projects

The projects include: Portersville Road (1125 East from 700 South to the Du Bois County line and the bridge at the river), a segment of 950 South connecting to the Martin County line, and 700 East from 1000 North north to Highway 58. The highway representative said the grants were chosen to link existing projects and enhance through‑routes across the county.
Staff estimated the county match at approximately $278,000 toward a total project cost of about $1.3 million; match funds would come from the county highway/commissioners’ budget (MVH gas‑tax and property‑tax derived funds). Commissioners congratulated highway staff for compiling the applications and noted the award supports planned connectivity and corridor maintenance.
The board did not vote to appropriate the match in this meeting; staff said bids will be sought and the county will present final costs and funding requests when available.
