At its Dec. 2 meeting the Palatka Pension Board ratified warrants and benefit approvals and directed staff to take action against a small set of unresponsive pension recipients.
Resource-center staff reported successful completion of a SOC 1 Type II audit — the 18th consecutive year without exceptions — and said it had sent 'alive-and-well' letters to participants. Staff received 87 replies; five recipients were noted as moved with no forwarding address. The staff recommended steps to verify those cases and suggested suspending payments to get attention. One board member said, "That gets their attention," and the board directed staff to pause payments for the five unresolved cases.
The board then considered warrants for payment. A motion was made and seconded to pay the warrant dated 08/26/2025 in the amount of $25,291 and warrants dated 12/02/2025 totaling $13,464.58; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board also moved to ratify benefit approvals from 08/26/2025 and to approve benefits dated 12/02/2025; those motions were seconded and approved by voice vote. Allen Bush recused himself from benefit approvals where he was a listed recipient and was asked to sign the recusal form.
Board members also asked about tracing options for missing participants; staff said they routinely use national death-notice databases and can use skip-trace services for a fee if the board authorizes it. The board accepted the financials and directed staff to prepare required signatures and documentation.
With no further business, the board adjourned.
