Danzel said the premium spike prompted the county to implement immediate budget adjustments and personnel reductions by attrition in mission-critical positions. Board members said they will shop for other options and noted neighboring jurisdictions had seen even larger premium increases.
Administrators also signaled the county will continue an orderly withdrawal process and requested the pool provide acknowledgement and any required exit documentation. Commissioners said the decision is driven by fiduciary responsibility as they balance a tight budget during current budget hearings.
The board also discussed other outgoing correspondence at the same time, including notice to superior court judges about an interlocal agreement to house juveniles at Martin Hall and a condolence letter to the Robotelli family.
