District hears update on high school renovations, athletic complex

Campus Construction Management Group told the Frontier Central School District Board of Education that work on several high school capital projects is advancing and will continue through the winter months.
Dave Vodder, presenting for the construction manager, described three main areas of Phase 3 at the high school: renovation of the main front entrance (including second-floor guidance offices and a student union), work in the pool area, and work on the auditorium lobby exterior. "Initially, we're working on the entire second, 2nd Floor space and the 1st Floor area to the north of the entrance doors," Vodder said, and added that a new secure entrance for bus unloading will be created.
Vodder said demolition, structural framing and mechanical-electrical-plumbing rough-in have progressed in guidance and support spaces, and that finishes, new furniture and glass partitions with privacy film are being installed. On the pool project, he said the team removed bleachers, pool tiles and performed ceiling and HVAC demolition to enable structural and new-system installation.
On Phase 1f, the team is constructing a new athletic entrance between the high school parking lot and the athletic complex, with masonry piers, ornamental gates and a concession stand. Vodder said foundations, piers and roof trusses are in various stages of completion and anticipated that "all of which will be complete by the start of the next scholastic year," while noting interior work would continue "right through the winter as long as we don't get a particularly harsh winter."
Board members praised the visible changes and asked about sequencing and weather contingency planning. The presentation noted a grant-funded project at Glaisdell Elementary and recent site work at Blaisdell Elementary (play and court installations).
Next steps outlined included continuing internal finishes where the district intends to complete interior fit-out, completing external masonry and canopy work at the auditorium entrance, and finishing the athletic-concession and gate elements in springtime. No formal action or additional funding was requested during the update; the presentation concluded with seasonal greetings.
The board did not take a formal vote on capital budgets during the update; questions and follow-ups will be handled through facilities staff and future reports.
