Centerville board honors longtime members John Dahl and Dr. David Rohr at Dec. 15 meeting

The Centerville Board of Education honored two longtime members on Dec. 15, presenting proclamations and brief tributes to John Dahl and Dr. David Rohr for decades of service to the district.

State Representative Tom Young opened the honors, saying the job of serving on a school board "is probably the toughest job there is," and praising both retirees for their sustained community commitment. Carolyn Rice, reading proclamations on behalf of the Montgomery County Commission, laid out Dahl’s and Rohr’s years of service and local volunteer roles, and presented framed proclamations to each.

A short video produced with the district’s communications students was shown during the meeting; district staff and central-office team members offered thanks on behalf of administrators and faculty. Public commenter Chelsea Stinnett, who identified herself as a Centerville resident and participant in local education groups, told the board the two members had "given a combined 6 decades of dedicated service" and described their lasting impact on students and families.

Both retirees spoke briefly. John Dahl reflected on the privilege of serving the community for more than 25 years and thanked colleagues, administrators and his family. Dr. David Rohr recounted his background in pediatric care and his focus on health and wellness in the district since 1994.

The meeting moved on after applause and a reception; the board said the video and additional remarks would be available for attendees to view following the session.
