The council deferred action on Ordinance 25-514, an amendment to Chapter 10 (animals), to allow staff additional time to meet with stakeholders and collect public input. During discussion the mayor and council members said they want to publish the ordinance as previously passed, solicit comments and return with suggested amendments at the Feb. 16, 2026 meeting.
A motion to postpone the second reading until Feb. 16 passed on roll call. Staff explained the delay will enable meetings with residents and interested parties and ensure that issues related to cats and other animal topics are considered in any subsequent amendments.
