Student representative reports toy drive, athletics wins and winter concerts

At the December meeting, student representative Mikayla Becker reported on recent student activities across the district.
Becker said the Interact Club held a toy drive at the high school that collected more than 150 items to be distributed through Dane County. She also noted that student council members attended a leadership conference at the Pfizer Forum in Milwaukee and that Congressman Mark Pocan spoke to AP government and AP U.S. history classes last week.
Becker described the Justify Summit — a consortium of area districts that organizes student-led workshops about inclusion, equity and belonging — and said the district's Justify Club participated in the event. She updated the board on athletics: boys swim will host a triple duel, wrestling teams have a dual versus Mount Horb, girls' basketball recorded recent wins (including Dec. 2), and boys hockey beat Oshkosh 8–3. In the arts, Becker said middle and high school bands and orchestras performed winter concerts; Madrigal Singers caroled downtown during the Victorian holiday weekend and performed at the 40th Madrigal dinner in December; the combined middle- and high-school orchestras were scheduled to perform that evening.
Becker concluded her report and the board asked if there were any questions; none were raised.
