JEFFERSON COUNTY — Commissioners used part of their Dec. 18 agenda to recognize long‑serving county employees and to honor the Clay Chapel High School football team for winning the Class 6A state championship.
Deputy County Manager Lanier and county staff presented 30‑year service pins to 12 employees across multiple departments, naming employees including Thomas Bigham (area highway superintendent), Rameka Ransom (real property appraiser), John Riley (public works supervisor), Robert Tyler (water reclamation facility), Lanae Warmley Lanier (budget manager) and others. Presenters invited recipients to the front for photos and the commission offered public thanks and appreciation.
The commission also read a resolution recognizing Clay Chapel High School’s Class 6A state football championship, citing a 15–0 season record and a 38–21 victory in the state championship game. Coach Stuart/Stewart Floyd and Principal Eugene Dallas joined commissioners for remarks; Dallas thanked the commission and emphasized the role of community support in the team’s success.
