City administrator John Gochenour told council the city applied for a brownfield redevelopment grant for 300 Farnsworth Road; staff said the application sought $4,428,000 to cover 100% of remediation costs including removal of underground gas tanks, demolition of an existing canopy and building, and restoration of the site for future redevelopment. Gochenour also summarized park‑and‑recreation master‑plan work and said public outreach will continue into 2026 with further park planning scheduled in April 2026.
Fire Chief Doug Meyer described a volunteer cadet/explorer program developed by firefighter Brian Cox to recruit and train future firefighters. Chief Meyer said the program has been reviewed by the public‑safety committee, requires legal review for liability considerations, and could be run through established youth organizations. He said the committee recommended pursuing the program.
Council approved temporary appropriations to carry the city through January and February 2026 and adopted a final 2025 budget amendment (cleanup) to reflect increased income‑tax and TIF receipts and township property‑tax sharing payments. Finance staff reported an estimated general‑fund ending balance of about $8,000,150 and total funds of $13,849,346.
