Selectmen approve Change Order 15 for fire headquarters; project timeline pushed to early February

The North Brookfield Board of Selectmen approved Change Order 15 on Dec. 2 to address additional work at the new fire headquarters.
Town staff described multiple PCOs (project change orders) included in Change Order 15. Notable items listed by staff were: added insulation where existing sheetrock was removed ($10,466.73); a tank-piping credit ($3,278.45) for relocated piping; exterior masonry patching ($861.43); second-floor wood trim ($3,640.65); a meter disconnect to allow safe external shutoff ($5,848.08); a telecom conduit credit ($870.08); and two ceiling fans with wiring for the large second-floor meeting room ($2,929.91). Speaker 2 said the insulation and ventilation work requires careful sequencing and that the contractor now anticipates completion closer to Feb. 1.
After discussion Speaker 1 moved to approve Change Order 15; Speaker 3 (John Carroll) spoke and the board approved the motion by voice vote. Staff said these measures will improve the building's weatherproofing and habitability.
