Brown Deer endorses county reconstruction of North Sherman Boulevard, adds village sidewalk request

Trustees approved a local county agreement documenting the village’s estimated participation in Milwaukee County’s planned reconstruction of North Sherman Boulevard and separately adopted a resolution supporting addition of a sidewalk/multi-use path.
Staff described two related county-led reconstruction projects along North Sherman Boulevard (State Highway G/57) that include storm-sewer cost shares and a west-side sidewalk/multi-use path extension. Bids are set to be advertised in January and opened in February; the county is expected to award the construction contract after bids are opened.
The village’s estimated cost participation was described as consistent with items already included in the village’s capital improvement program adopted in August. Staff said the village will be responsible for maintenance of the sidewalk/multi-use path after installation, consistent with other similar projects.
Trustee Owens moved to approve the local county agreement and Trustee Goldberg seconded; the motion carried. Trustee Reynolds moved and the board adopted a resolution supporting adding the sidewalk/multi-use path to the county project.
