Commissioners open 2026 highway bids, table them for tabulation; approve RDC demo recommendation and routine items

At a special Vermillion County Board of Commissioners meeting shortly after Thanksgiving 2025, commissioners opened a slate of 2026 highway and aggregate bids from vendors and voted to table those bids so the highway department can tabulate them and provide recommendations.
Speaker 2 opened bids submitted by Keystone; Maguire Excavating & Trucking; Daniel Ribby Trucking; Scott Oil Inc.; Sunrise FS; Park County Aggregates; Canizer Excavating; ProAg; Bridal Culverts Inc.; Rogers Group; Milestone; and Civicon Pipe. Speaker 2 told those present, "If anybody's interested in seeing the bids, just get with Tia after the meeting or in the next few days," and said the board would take the bids "under advisement" for tabulation.
A motion to table the bids until the next commissioners meeting carried by voice vote. The board directed the highway administrator (referred to as Tia) to consolidate the bid documents into a table and to email commissioners with recommendations before the next meeting.
Separately, the board approved an RDC (Redevelopment Commission) recommendation for the Dana Demo project based on a low-bid recommendation from HWC; Speaker 2 said approving the recommendation would allow the RDC to expedite a grant and make the county eligible for a new grant next year. That motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The meeting also included routine approvals: minutes from Nov. 5, 2025; claims for November 2025 (including Nov. 21 and Nov. 26 batches); and payroll for Nov. 21, 2025. All routine items passed on voice votes. Misty Hess was recorded as absent during roll call.
The meeting adjourned after the actions listed above.
