Commissioners adopt resolution naming Vermillion Rise Megapark as preferred site for data centers

The Vermillion County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt Resolution 2025‑11, designating the Vermillion Rise Megapark as the county's preferred location for data centers, digital infrastructure and other large-scale industrial uses.

Speaker 2 read the resolution aloud, saying Vermillion Rise "shall serve as the primary and preferred location for data centers, digital infrastructure facilities, and large scale industrial projects." The resolution asserts that the county will focus economic development efforts on the Megapark while ensuring projects align with the comprehensive plan and community values.

The resolution states the county may consider proposals outside Vermillion Rise only if they "align fully with Vermillion County comprehensive plan" and if the proposal receives demonstrated support from affected residents and communities. It also directs continued transparent permitting and coordination with utility and state partners, and instructs collaboration with the Vermillion Rise Megapark Board on infrastructure improvements.

Commissioner motions to adopt the resolution were made and seconded during the meeting; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. Misty Hess was recorded as absent during roll call earlier in the meeting.
