Munhall Borough Council on Dec. 16 approved several facility and public-works items, including awarding a contract to Extreme Restoration for a second-floor security/build-out and approving an application tied to a waterfront development labeled "Project Panther."

The council approved awarding the second-floor security build-out to Extreme Restoration for $84,451.53 as the lowest reputable bidder. Discussion of that item described temporary modifications to provide police access to an upper-floor sunroom for defensive-tactics training and a security wall and doors in front of the mayor's office; staff said future build-out work would remain useful when the borough completes additional build-out efforts.

Council also voted to approve the alert application for Project Panther at 881 Fort Waterfront Drive; a council member confirmed the borough's portion of the agreement is for five years (the county application showed 10 years, but borough staff said the borough term is five). Council approved installation of street lights at specified addresses, including 405 Green Street and a Cambridge Street location listed in the motion.

Members asked about personnel and intergovernmental assistance: the council confirmed assistant chief interviews have not been completed and will be scheduled, and members discussed an arrangement to help neighboring Swissville move trucks, confirming the other borough's insurance and documentation steps.

All three project motions were approved on voice vote during the meeting.
