Why it matters: the certified levy determines how much property-tax revenue the district will seek in 2026 and sets the funding baseline for next year's budget. Angie told the board she would certify the levy with the state (MDE) and obtain signatures that night.
Board discussion focused on choosing a lower, rate-stable certification rather than the higher preliminary levy. One board member noted that while the district could levy more, the board was attempting to be mindful of taxpayers even though district spending is currently in deficit.
The action follows the district's Truth in Taxation process and does not change the board's authority to adjust budget priorities during the coming budget conversations. The certified levy amount was recorded as $13,887,802.55 and will be transmitted to the Minnesota Department of Education for final processing.
