County recognizes PGA volunteer Mark Camarini for veterans work at FAIRWINDS

The St. Lucie County Board formally recognized Mark Camarini of FAIRWINDS Golf Course with the South Florida PGA Patriot Award for his work establishing and sustaining PGA HOPE Fort Pierce, a veterans‑focused program.
Daryl Bach, Director of Foundation Programs with the South Florida PGA, described PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) as a six‑week program that reconnects veterans through golf and community activities. Bach said Camarini and the FAIRWINDS staff have facilitated two six‑week programs per year and have connected more than 200 veterans to recreational and peer‑support opportunities in the community.
“For his substantial record of support, service, and commitment to and for the military veterans, the South Florida PGA proudly recognizes PGA General Manager Mark Camarini with his Patriot Award,” Bach said.
Camrini (who addressed the board briefly) thanked veterans, county staff and commissioners for support and noted ongoing activities including a veterans’ free golf day and local Valor Cup competitions that pair area PGA HOPE programs.
The recognition required no board action beyond presentation and public acknowledgment. The award was presented during the regular meeting before public hearings.
