Ada County announced it received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024. An unidentified speaker read the national GFOA news release noting the report met the program’s high standards for disclosure and presentation.
Commissioners praised county finance and clerk staff for the year‑round work that supports the report, saying it demonstrates transparency and fiscal responsibility and helps the public understand how tax dollars are spent. A board member singled out the treasurer’s and clerk’s teams for their ongoing efforts to ensure “every t is crossed and every I is dotted.”
The award is the highest national recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and signifies that an impartial review panel judged Ada County’s report to meet the program’s criteria. The board said it will mark the recognition publicly and invited staff to join for a photo following the meeting.
No formal budget action was associated with the recognition; it was presented as an announcement and acknowledgment of staff work.
