Anoka County facilities director honored with mentorship, lifetime awards

Anoka County recognized Facilities Management and Construction Department Director Andrew Dykstra on Dec. 2 for receiving two awards from the Minnesota City County Facility Management Association.
Chair remarks introduced Dykstra's honors: a lifetime achievement award for longstanding contributions to facility management in Minnesota and an outstanding contributor award for a 12-month mentorship program he helped found. The chair noted the MCCFMA has grown to more than 120 members statewide.
Dykstra said it had been "a true privilege and an honor" to serve in his role for the last 17 years and highlighted the mentorship program's goals: developing future facility managers through a structured year-long program and encouraging long-term strategic planning. He thanked Jerry Colville and AMC executive director Julie Ring for their support.
Several commissioners praised Dykstra and his team for improving county facilities and sharing the county's model with other jurisdictions. Commissioner Reinert said Dykstra "makes buildings exciting," and Commissioner Jepsen commended his leadership and consistency. The board gave Dykstra a round of applause.
