Council honors Donald Mitchell after 14+ years on Alpharetta City Council

Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis presented a proclamation listing Mitchell’s leadership on downtown redevelopment, the Alpharetta Loop, public safety and historic preservation.
The Alpharetta City Council on Dec. 8 presented a service recognition to Councilman Donald F. Mitchell, who has served more than 14 years on the council and as interim mayor in 2019. Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis read a proclamation that recited Mitchell’s election in 2011, his work on the Alpharetta Loop, Wills Park improvements, Avalon, downtown redevelopment, and his support for public-safety equipment and historic-preservation efforts.
Mitchell addressed the audience and thanked residents, colleagues and city staff. "It's been 14 and years and 2 months, and, couldn't have done any of the projects that we all got accomplished without your involvement," he said, adding, "I love you all." Colleagues offered thanks and best wishes; members noted his role in passing bond funding for major projects and preserving historic properties cited in the proclamation.
Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis presented the proclamation and praised Mitchell's longtime service and community leadership. The council observed the recognition at the start of the regular meeting; it was followed by routine consent business and the public-hearing schedule.
