Alpharetta’s City Council on Dec. 8 approved multiple land-use and administrative actions in a meeting that combined routine consent items, contested zoning details, and several ordinance second readings.
Key votes at the meeting included unanimous approvals for two rezonings: Z‑25‑17 (Sharma) for 12975 Cogburn Road — subdividing 1.35 acres into two R‑15 lots — and Z‑25‑16 (Madewell) for 204 Marietta Street — rezoning OP to DTR and subdividing a 1.178‑acre downtown property into two lots. The Madewell approval included added staff language requiring the developer to record a notice in the deed records warning that the rezoning could impose a 50‑foot undisturbed buffer on an adjacent property if that property seeks future expansion.
Council adopted a condemnation resolution authorizing acquisition of limited fee/temporary easement interests in tax parcel 1225820696725 (11700 Haines Bridge Road) for the AlphaLoop Devore Road project; staff estimated just compensation at $7,800 for the small permanent right-of-way and associated temporary construction easement.
Council also advanced several ordinance matters on second reading, approving amendments to the professional bondsman ordinance (Article 12, Chapter 10) with staff language deferring the effective implementation timing to the city administrator, insurer license fee amendments (Article 2, Chapter 42), and changes to mobile food vendor and pawn shop licensing (Articles 10 and 11, Chapter 10). All ordinance votes were unanimous.
