Alpharetta proclaims Wreaths Across America Day; parks staff honored by state association

Alpharetta’s mayor and city council on Monday proclaimed Nov. 13, 2025 as Wreaths Across America Day and thanked the local Daughters of the American Revolution Patriots of Liberty chapter for coordinating wreath ceremonies across six area cemeteries.
Alicia King of the Patriots Liberty chapter told council the chapter began wreath deployments seven years ago from a single cemetery, Rust Haven, which contains 120 veterans’ graves, and has grown to support 10 cemeteries across Fulton County, including six in Alpharetta. The proclamation cites the program’s history and urges community participation in annual remembrance events.
Council also recognized Stacy Shirley of the Alpharetta Community Center as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association’s distinguished support staff. Morgan Rogers, the city’s parks representative, said a state-produced video and remarks from colleagues highlighted Shirley’s leadership, attention to detail and role in ensuring visitors feel welcomed. The council presented a formal proclamation and an award certificate.
The actions required no formal vote and council moved quickly to the evening’s legislative business.
