Summary
The commission accepted the Governor's Office rural economic blueprint with commissioner-suggested additions (trail connectivity and Snowbasin/Strawberry access language). The resolution (CR25-66) passed unanimously after presenters from the governor’s office and county staff described revisions.
Morgan County commissioners voted Dec. 16 to adopt a revised rural economic blueprint (CR25-66) after county and state staff incorporated commissioner feedback, including language about trail connectivity and access projects.
Sherry Stevens of the governor’s office of economic opportunity told the board that staff and local partners worked with county commissioners to add projects and strategies the commission had requested after a Dec. 2 work session. "After work session on Dec. 2, we were able to meet and make additions to the economic plan based on input and feedback from commission," Stevens said.
Commissioners specifically requested additional language addressing Strawberry Road access to Snowbasin and a trail connection that links Morgan County to neighboring communities. August Granath (county contact) and Stevens confirmed the new text had been added to the final revision and distributed to the commission at the meeting.
Commissioner Fackrell moved to accept the rural economic blueprint with the additions made that evening; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The blueprint will be used to pursue grant opportunities and to guide coordination with regional partners on infrastructure and trails projects tied to recreation and tourism growth.
Staff said the next step is to circulate the final document to local stakeholders and to begin identifying funding opportunities to pursue the projects identified in the blueprint.
