Jacksonville Beach City Council confirmed a series of citizen board and commission appointments during its meeting, ratifying selections for the General Employees Pension Board, Community Redevelopment Agency leadership, the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment.
The council ratified the General Employees Pension Board's selection of Greg (record shows variant spellings) as the fifth trustee, with the term noted to begin Jan. 1, 2026, and expire Dec. 31, 2027. The council then appointed leadership for the Community Redevelopment Agency: the council selected Gary (name appears with multiple spellings in the record) as chair for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and Kevin Myers as vice chair for a one-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
On the Planning Commission, Dean Haddock was appointed to fill the remainder of Debbie Cole's unexpired term (term listed as Jan. 1, 2026—Dec. 31, 2028), and Matthew Filer was appointed to a four-year regular member term beginning Jan. 1, 2026 and ending Dec. 31, 2029. John Linus and Lindsay Hager were named first and second alternates with staggered expiration dates as recorded during roll call votes.
For the Board of Adjustment, Matt Metz and Douglas Dell were each appointed to new four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2029. The council filled an unexpired regular member seat by appointing Karen Doherty with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2028, and later appointed Gary Hockett as a first alternate and Alex Ertle as second alternate for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2029.
The mayor and multiple council members thanked applicants and the city clerk's office for a robust candidate pool; the mayor noted a large number of citizen applicants and described the number of interviews as a record. Most appointments were adopted by roll call without public comment.
The council closed the meeting after the appointments and ordinance business.
