Superintendent (Dr. Kron) presents five goals emphasizing transition, data and facilities

Dr. Kron presented five district goals to the School Committee focused on leadership transition, student-data use, facilities, fiscal stewardship and community engagement.

Goal 1: Develop and implement a comprehensive leadership transition plan that includes joint appearances, shared communications and leadership shadowing for incoming Superintendent Jane Hackett and named incoming directors.

Goal 2: Deepen the district's use of student-performance data to improve instruction and close achievement gaps, with targeted early-literacy interventions at elementary schools and evidence-based math supports at the middle school.

Goal 3: Maintain districtwide facility improvements emphasizing safety, sustainability and accessibility; the presentation called for partnering with the town on a bicentennial field project and developing a long-term capital maintenance plan.

Goal 4: Preserve Rockland's record of fiscal excellence with a balanced FY26 budget that sustains core programs and small class sizes; speakers noted four consecutive years with no audit findings and proposed a three-year forecast with the town administrator.

Goal 5: Reinforce school and community pride through arts, athletics and student recognition, while enhancing inclusion and morale.

Committee reaction was positive, with members praising the clarity and thoroughness of the goals and encouraging the transition planning. Dr. Kron said she would continue to support second-year principals and document budget and capital processes to ensure continuity.

The committee did not take a formal vote on the goals at the meeting; the goals were presented for discussion and future action as part of superintendent planning.
