Superintendent highlights staff awards, student achievements and new finance transparency tools

Superintendent Dr. Priya Tehiliani used her final update of the year to recognize staff and student accomplishments and preview new tools aimed at increasing financial transparency.
Tehiliani announced that Brockton High School athletic trainer Brianna Pina earned the District 8 Yoshitaka Ando athletic trainer award and that BPS art director Sarah Richards received a Common Good Award from MassArt. She also congratulated four Brockton High School students who received 2025 Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents awards.
On finance, Tehiliani said the district launched a live grants dashboard (available at bpsma.org/finance) and is preparing an 'open checkbook' tool the public will see soon. "This live grants dashboard will be regularly updated by our grants manager to reflect this year's fiscal grants and spending," she said, and members have preview access now with plans to go live to the community before winter break.
Committee members asked about the timing of the public launch and were told preview access is available this week and public launch is anticipated next week. Vice Chair Tony Rodriguez and other members praised the finance team and the pilot warrant system for improving transparency. No fiscal figures were read into the record during the presentation; a more detailed fiscal update was promised for a future meeting.
