The Brockton School Committee returned from executive session on Tuesday and approved two bargaining outcomes affecting district staff.
The committee voted to accept a memorandum of agreement with the Brockton Education Association (BEA). Missus Sullivan moved to accept the BEA MOA and Mister Gomes seconded; the roll call produced six yes votes and one abstention (the vice chair), and the motion passed. Committee members were recorded as supporting the ratification; one member was not present for the roll call.
The committee then approved the custodial Teamsters contract. Mister Vega moved the motion, Miss Oliver seconded, and the roll call showed unanimous yes votes from members present, approving the custodial agreement.
Both votes concluded the bargaining items that had been discussed in executive session under Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 30A, §21(a)(3). The committee did not discuss contract terms on the record during the open session; the BEA president had earlier told the committee that the BEA had ratified its successor contract the prior Thursday.
