Prosser CTE programs report strong participation and postsecondary credit gains

Prosser School District's career and technical education programs reported competitive successes and strong outcomes for program completers, the CTE director told the board.
Rick Collin said student teams and individuals performed well this season: HOSA returned from international competition with a top-24 finish, the soils team placed third in state, and AgMEC placed near the top at nationals. He highlighted an individual national first-place result in environmental natural resources and noted that TSA, DECA and other programs are preparing for regional competitions.
Collin also presented outcome metrics tied to program completion: among students who completed two full credits in a CTE pathway, graduation rates were 98.4% (measured for CTE completers), nontraditional placement rates were 81% (target 21%), 100% of completers earned some sort of postsecondary credit, and work-based learning participation was about 80%. He said attainment of industry credentials (CompTIA or similar) rose from 7.9% the prior year to about 32% this year for completers, though that target was still below the program's goals.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions and thanked Collin for the report. The presentation was informational; no board action was taken.
