Supervisor Mosley, the district’s school police liaison, briefed the Brockton School Committee on Dec. 2 on safety and security activities across the district, including the designation of a school‑based sexual‑assault officer.
Mosley said Officer Fernandez completed relevant training and will take initial reports and lead follow‑up investigations in collaboration with the Brockton Police Department. On clinician involvement, Mosley said clinicians will be brought in when required for sensitive cases. He also described recent VR training focused on de‑escalation and active‑shooter scenarios and community policing events that included distributing food to families.
Mosley reported three new recruits started at the police academy this week and noted one academy recruit speaks Spanish and Haitian Creole. Committee members welcomed the female sexual‑assault officer as a potentially important resource for victims who may feel more comfortable speaking with a female officer.
No formal action was taken; Mosley and the superintendent said the district’s HR and safety teams will continue coordinating with the police department and will report back as needed.
