Commissioners recommended that City Council approve a 2026 contract with Aerotech Companies to provide airport lighting maintenance.
Staff said Aerotech is a local spin-off of Neo Electric and has provided service over the last year. Commissioners asked about the companys experience; staff replied that the principal technicians previously worked for Neo Electric and that one lead, Corey, may live in Forest Lake. "They're fairly new, like I say, a spin off," Stotts said when asked about Aerotechs qualifications.
The staff recommendation was for the commission to forward a recommendation to council endorsing the contract; an unidentified commissioner moved to do so, a second was recorded and the commission voted unanimously to recommend council approval. Staff noted the city will still perform some maintenance-level tasks in-house, while AeroTech would handle technical items beyond the commissions expertise.
The recommendation now goes to City Council for final approval and contract execution.
