The Eatonville School Board voted to approve the district's Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) plan after hearing an annual report describing enrollment trends, program safeguards, and funding.
Sally presented the ALE report, saying headcount rose from 83 in September to 94 in November, while FTE grew from about 37.56 to 45.69 (SEG 1760-1776). She described ALE compliance requirements: each ALE student must have a written student-learning plan, weekly contact with certificated staff, monthly progress evaluations, and weekly progress monitoring so staff can intervene if a student is unsatisfactory for three consecutive weeks (SEG 1846-1936).
The presenter noted ALE funding is reported at a statewide running-start nonvocational rate of roughly $10,291 per student (SEG 2027-2031). The board clarified that approving the ALE plan at this meeting authorizes the district to continue offering ALE and to negotiate contracts with partners; contract approvals would come back to the board when they are ready (SEG 2096-2110).
After questions about contract length and accreditation, a board member moved to approve the ALE plan and the motion carried by voice vote (SEG 2053-2131). The board recorded no roll-call tally in the transcript; the motion was announced as carried.
The ALE plan approval preserves virtual and blended pathways for students seeking credit recovery, acceleration, or nontraditional learning options while directing staff to continue oversight and reporting to ensure compliance with state ALE regulations.
