Technical Advisory Committee approves minutes, cancels January meeting; discusses stormwater exemptions

The McHenry County Technical Advisory Committee opened on Dec. 9, conducted roll call and approved the meeting minutes. Bruce Meyer moved to approve the minutes and Al Schmidt seconded; the motion passed with one abstention recorded as "Prime."
The committee discussed the 2026 meeting calendar and voted to cancel the January meeting because it falls on New Year’s Day; members agreed to resume the schedule in February.
The remainder of the meeting was devoted to a staff presentation and committee discussion of proposed stormwater ordinance amendments that would create an exemption from detention when a site’s increase in peak flow (proposed vs. existing) is no greater than 0.5 cubic feet per second and existing drainage patterns are preserved. Staff said they would return with refined exhibits and additional model runs, including critical‑duration scenarios and worked examples.
