At its Dec. 18 meeting the Franklin City Park Board approved a human resources report that included hiring a new full-time building services supervisor and the reappointment of three members to the Tree Advisory Committee.
Speaker 2 said the department had offered the new building services supervisor position (budgeted for 2026) to the part-time employee currently performing those duties; the employee, Charlie Sanders, accepted the offer and is scheduled to start full time on Dec. 29, pending board approval. Speaker 1 moved to approve the human resources report and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
On committee appointments, Speaker 2 described the Tree Advisory Committee as a seven-member body with four mayoral appointments and three park-board appointments. The current park-board appointees — Richard Wirtz, Dana Marietta, and Kathy Thomas — told staff they will serve another two-year term; Speaker 1 moved to reappoint them and the board approved by voice vote.
Speaker 2 also said the department had received a proposal from HWC Engineering (Indianapolis) to evaluate the aquatic center’s building, structural elements and mechanical systems, and to estimate what is required to extend the pool’s useful life by 10 years or to add features such as a slide. Speaker 2 said the HWC contract proposal will be presented for board consideration at the January meeting.
