Parks staff presented three concepts for 'celebrated entries' at city parks and recommended Option B with a colored city logo. The designs include different approaches to identity, wayfinding and materials.
Councilmembers discussed visual identity, directional wayfinding and cost sensitivity. Several members favored Option B’s aesthetics and amenity symbols but asked that directional arrows from Option A be incorporated. Councilmember Adams and others emphasized the need for cost estimates before making a final selection: "I think these 3 designs are going to cost very, very different ranges," she said.
Parks staff said only one RFQ response had been received and that Don Bell Signs — the vendor who previously made city entry signs — submitted the options. The parks liaison said staff will bring back pricing and clarified that hybrid design elements (symbols and directional arrows) can likely be combined.
Council provided direction to return with costed options and clarified that final selection will consider both visual identity and budget. No final design selection or purchase was approved at the meeting.
