Several Brigadoon townhome owners appeared Nov. 19 to respond to code complaints about exterior surfaces, mildew and rotting wood. Inspectors displayed photographs and recommended corrections under code section 3‑1502 (exterior surfaces). Several respondents acknowledged the violations but described financial hardship and remediation plans.
Inspector Jared (identified on the record as the code inspector) said notices were mailed in April with compliance dates in May and that photos taken at the hearing still showed defects. Neighbors and owners described prior pressure washing and recent contractor activity, and several homeowners asked for a longer deadline to secure contractors and funding. One homeowner said they had already paid deposits for paint and were seeking a closing or contractor availability to complete work.
After discussion the board repeatedly advised owners to liaise with their assigned inspector, consider mold‑resistant paint, and document repairs; in multiple cases the board moved to require compliance by Feb. 1, 2026, rather than the staff‑recommended Jan. 1 deadline to allow homeowners additional time. The motions to enter orders and extend deadlines carried by voice vote in each affected case.
Inspectors warned that if compliance is not met by the extended deadlines the city may assess a $150 daily fine per violation and eventually place liens or pursue abatement.
