Kirksville — The City Council approved a pair of airport-related actions to complete runway remarking work at the regional airport.
Deputy City Manager Rodney Sadler said the council previously approved an initial May block grant and that the current state block grant with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission covers construction-phase costs and construction administration. For this portion the grant total discussed at the meeting was $116,547, with a local match of $6,135.
The council also approved design and supplemental construction-administration agreements with Wolpert Aviation (formerly J Aviation). Sadler summarized the contracts as design for $84,997 and construction administration for $39,750.73; he noted the two block grants related to the work total $199,047 and that the city's contribution across the items is $8,635.
Sadler said Wolpert has performed prior airport engineering work for the city on terminal and runway projects and that using leftover, expiring grant funds enabled moving forward with striping/remarking work. The council approved both the grant agreement and the Wolpert contracts by voice vote.
