Macomb Township officials on Dec. 17 recognized members of the township fire department who delivered a baby girl in a resident’s dining room after a Nov. 23 911 call.
During a presentation to the Board of Trustees, the fire chief described the call and the department’s response. The mother, Leishana Brown, told the board the labor progressed suddenly and the crew guided her through delivery on the dining‑room floor. “They told me to lay down on my back...and he said, you’re gonna have to push,” Brown said during the remarks included in the transcript.
The chief and the board presented ceremonial “stork” pins and small gifts to the firefighters involved, and a family‑oriented gift from the department. Captain Ken Bartz and the crew—identified in the meeting as Sean Diamond, Steven (Delbo) Klein, Joe Longo, Tyler Miller, Jim Musinski and Sgt. George Lemus—were recognized at the meeting. The family said the mother and infant were recovering at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.
Supervisor and trustees praised the crew’s rapid response and training, noting a roughly three‑minute response time from dispatch to on‑scene arrival reported in the meeting materials. The board also presented a small board gift to the family and thanked the firefighters for their service.
The recognition concluded with holiday wishes and thanks to the department. No board action was required beyond the ceremonial recognition.
