Council introduces multiple rezoning ordinances and an annexation for future votes

Counsel Brent Morning (Speaker 8) introduced a series of ordinances at the Dec. 2 Jasper City Council meeting to rezone multiple parcels and to annex a commercial parcel; these items were presented for introduction and will return for future action.
Items introduced included rezoning a 0.23-acre parcel at 409 13th Street West from R-1 to R-4 to recognize an existing duplex; rezoning a 6.9-acre parcel at 4508 Kane Road from B-4/I-22 Corridor to BT (business transition) to allow existing single-family residential; rezoning two parcels at 2407 Highway 69 South (0.8 and 0.9 acres) to BT or R-3 to recognize existing single-family or manufactured-home use; rezoning a 9-acre parcel at 4706 Cane Road from B-4 to BT; and rezoning a 2.5-acre parcel at 4630 Kane Road from B-4 to BT.
Counsel also introduced an ordinance to annex about a 6-acre parcel near Lighthouse Road and the Loves truck stop into the city limits for commercial development. Counsel told council the parcel is already prepared for commercial development and that formal annexation will be considered at the next meeting.
All of the items were introduced with Planning Commission recommendations noted; the meeting record indicates these were introductions only and no final votes or motions to adopt ordinances were recorded at this session.
