Hoboken schools honor November students of the month across district

Principals and teachers across the Hoboken Public School District recognized their November 'Students of the Month' during the board's December meeting.
Assistant Superintendent Sandra Rodriguez Gomez opened the recognitions and invited each principal to the podium. Brant Elementary's honoree, Ved Dangaradate, was recognized for kindness and early leadership in kindergarten. Connors Elementary Principal Juliana Addie presented Haley Janaka for second‑grade leadership, empathy and strong class participation. Wallace Elementary Principal Steve Dickerson honored Freya Butler, a fourth‑grader praised for a strong work ethic, commitment to arts and athletics and advanced coursework. Hoboken Middle School Principal Ryan Sorfin presented Sienna Breslin for organization and contributions to student council and Junior Thespians, and Hoboken High Principal Robin Picapietra recognized Alina Cinchon for leadership as varsity cheer captain, extracurricular involvement and academic achievement.
Student representatives from Hoboken Middle School (Amaya Sorette and Scarlet Perpa) reported a November personal growth and progress day focused on executive functioning skills, a successful Thanksgiving food drive that supported the Hoboken shelter, recognition for fall athletes and an HMS Community Dinner scheduled for Dec. 18. The students also reminded families that winter sports registration opens the week of Jan. 5.
The board and administration congratulated the students and their families. No board action was taken on the recognitions, which were presented for celebration and community acknowledgment.
