Mentor — The Mentor City Council on Nov. 18 approved ordinance 25-0-095, authorizing budget transfers and advances to cover insurance costs and to advance funds for city projects and grants.
The ordinance “addresses mainly plan transfers that were budgeted for this year,” the presenting official told council, adding that “the bulk of it [is] going to the city self-insurance fund to help, fund our premiums and then pay the claims that come in on the medical and dental side.” The measure also allows the city to advance funds to projects and re-advance funds in cases where earlier advances were returned because grant funding had not yet arrived.
Council suspended the rules to consider the ordinance immediately and approved it by roll-call vote. The clerk announced that ordinance number 25-0-095 has been approved.
No dollar totals were provided in the presentation on the record at the meeting; council did not identify specific departments that will receive each transfer during the public presentation. The action moves routine budget adjustments forward for staff to implement under the authority granted by the ordinance.
